Earlier this year we reported that a special congestion charge experiment is held in Stockholm aiming to prevent high traffic level in the city. First, the experiment showed positive results and at the beginning of the year traffic in the city dropped by 28 percent. However, recent research showed that the level of traffic has slightly increased again. Probably the reason for this is that commuters who abandon their cars were not satisfied with the work of public transport, explaining that there were too many delays and trains withdrawn from service. The experiment ends in July, and Stockholmers will vote on whether to keep the system in September.
