The Stockholm scientists have recently came up with another discovery - while researching the possibility of an underground railway link in Stockholm, Swedish archaeologists found the wreckage of a 14th Century ship – one of the oldest vessels ever found in Sweden. Now researchers are waiting for the permission to excavate the site, hoping the vessel will help find the clues about boat-building techniques and trading practices in the 1300s. However, the excavations will not start until the end of winter. Although most of the boat remains buried in mud, project leader Marcus Hjulhammar, of the National Maritime Museum, believes it could be between 30 and 60 feet long and thinks of many ways the boat may be used - including putting it on display, or simply moving it underwater and covering it up again.
